Night of the Living Dead (2012) - Teaser

I'm so excited to have had the opportunity to portray the Scavenger Ghoul in Matt Cloude's Night of the Living Dead this weekend! Matt's a great guy and has an interesting take on the film's direction. I was involved in the filming of the teaser for the movie on Saturday. The teaser will be released later this year. The movie itself is not due to be released until next year.

This is my eleventh zombie movie, but only the first time I ever got the chance to wear creepy contact lenses! They sure do add a lot to the overall zombie look. Karen Michelle of Night Creatures FX is responsible for how cool I turned out. John R. Price II (Inspector Clay from Plan 9) and Jim Krut (Helicopter Zombie from Dawn of the Dead) were also on the set among a lot of other talented actors and actresses. I'm so stoked to be a part of this project!

Canadian Haunted Attractions Conference

It's official! I will be appearing as a special guest at the Canadian Haunted Attractions Conference this coming April in Hamilton, Ontario. The conference will run for three days, from April 12th to the 15th. I'll be there to share my zombie experiences with one and all! The event includes a commercial trade show featuring exhibitors of haunted attractions, the paranormal, special effects, horror and body art to name a few.

There will also be educational and general interest workshops, and many great social and networking opportunities for attendees.

A few scenes were shot before and after the rain on Sunday, but a lot of the day was eaten up by the wet stuff. Met a lot of great people and enjoyed the day just the same.

I had a great time last night and early this morning on the set of My Boring Zombie Apocalypse! The movie is filming in Baltimore, Maryland. I was able to do my own make-up for this production. I also did my pal Chris Amis' make-up. I think we turned out fine! I enjoyed adding this new side to my zombie skills.

MBZA is the 8th film in which I appear as a zombie.

Night of the Living Dead - Remake Controversy

I'm not sure why remakes always generate so much negative heat. They don't change the original. Even the 30th anniversary edition of Night of the Living Dead that changed the original didn't change the original! It's still there for you to enjoy just like you remember it. Secondly, there are a lot of remakes that are actually really good.

I really enjoyed Tom Savini's remake of Night of the Living Dead. It was just familiar enough to be recognizable, but different enough to be interesting. I also really enjoyed Dawn of the Dead (2004). It was a completely different story, with only the shopping mall as the main connection between itself and the original film. Okay, sometimes remakes can be bad or unnecessary. Even those films don't take away from the original and die-hard fans still want to see them out of curiosity. I guess the only thing I would resist is a shot-by-shot remake like Gus Van Sant's remake of Psycho. Though, even that one had a few changes that reflected the times in which it was made.

I've been in a few remakes (Dawn of the Dead, Plan 9) and I'll be in another one soon (Matt Cloude's Night of the Living Dead). I think these films provide new material for hungry fans and when done right they add to the mythology created by the original. I believe Matt Cloude's remake will do just that.

I have been added to the cast of Night of the Living Dead (2012)! I will be playing the Scavenger Ghoul! I'll post more info as I am able to make it available. Don't get confused... this isn't the stage play I will also be doing... this is a remake of the original movie. I can hardly believe that I am lucky enough to be part of both!

This movie also features Judith O'Dea (Barbara from the original Night of the Living Dead), Mike Christopher (Hare Krishna Zombie from Dawn of the Dead), David Early (Dawn of the Dead) and John R. Price II (Plan 9) among a host of other talented actors!

I had a great time on the set of Detention of the Dead this weekend in Pontiac, Michigan! I played a teacher zombie and got to carry around my brief case and a bloody ruler! I also got to chew on some super-yummy intestines, too! Here's a photo of me and Jayson Blair on the set of Detention of the Dead.

Jayson played Chris on Glee and Young Nathan on Heroes. Looks like another awesome zombie movie!

It's been a long wait... but it's finally here... Survival of the Dead on DVD! The movie looks great and all the extras on the 2-disc set are really worth checking out.

The biggest and greatest surprise for me was the Walking After Midnight documentary. It is a very comprehensive documentary that's almost as long as the movie itself! Most exciting for me is that the entire scene in which I help tear Chuck in half is in the documentary in unedited form! More than I could have ever dreamed to see! I've posted some pictures here and over at MySpace.com... but nothing compares to the DVD! Go buy a copy already!

Fun Times at the Famous Monsters Convention

Had a wonderful time at the Famous Monsters Convention this weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana! I met a lot of great people, so many in fact that you'd probably be better off checking out the guest list here rather than having me repeat them all!

There were a few that stood out from the celebrity crowd for me though...

Sharon Ceccatti (Nurse Zombie), Jim Krut (Helicopter Zombie), Mike Christopher (Hare Krishna Zombie) and Leonard A. Lies (Machete Zombie) from Dawn of the Dead really made me feel welcome. I cannot thank them enough for their kindness and friendly ways - you people are the best!

George Kosana (The Sheriff from Night of the Living Dead)... what can I say? Rarely have I met a wiser or more straight-shooting individual! Talking to him was an experience and an education! More power to you, George!

Bill Hinzman (Cemetery Zombie - Night of the Living Dead) you were the FIRST zombie and the most iconic! Thanks for being so nice! Charles Craig (Announcer - Night of the Living Dead) you were awesome - thanks for getting my name right on the first try!

I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone that came by my table and talked to me. You really made the con something special. The volunteer staff at the con were remarkable as well! Thanks for everything!

Oh, and it was also pretty cool that Bela Lugosi Jr. just happened to stop by my table on his way through just long enough for me to tell him how much I respected his father's work. That was pretty sweet!

I have only a few small regrets... I didn't get away from my table very often, so I didn't get to see the vendor's area as much as I would have liked to... I didn't get to see Basil Gogos before he had to leave (D'oh!)... and I was hoping to get something signed by Bela Lugosi Jr., but missed the chance... that's about it, though.

Had a wonderful time! Hope to go to another horror con in the near future!

Y'know, I've been a zombie snob for the last few years by not participated in this fine event, but this year turned out to be different. My kids really wanted to go and I gave in without much resistance. Who can keep the dream of being a zombie from such young, tender hearts?

The zombies began their walk at Gore Park - yes, that is the real name - and then shambled through Lloyd D. Jackson Square Mall before ending up in Hamilton Cemetery. Here's a short video that I hopes captures the feel of the event...

Last October I spent a few days on the set of George A. Romero's Survival of the Dead as a zombie extra. I took part in what I know will be one of the goriest moments in the film. Can't wait for the release! In the meantime, I've been searching the web for any pics from the movie. I spotted myself for a brief moment in the trailer released months ago. That was a promising start. Eventually, I found a poster for the movie. I can be seen in one of the photos on the poster among a horde of zombies! Cool!

Looking Back - Meeting Batman

Every now and then I like to bring back and old pic and reminisce. Here's one that goes all the way back to 1986! I met Adam West at the Toronto Convention Centre and he was actually dressed as Batman! Burt Ward was there too and he was dressed as Robin. Morgana the Kissing Bandit was also there - but that would be another story!

I met Adam West again a few years later and he signed my photo. An awesome experience!
